CDC calls on Aker for Caspian rig topsides

Caspian Drilling Co. (CDC) has contracted a complete topside equipment package from Aker Solutions for a new semisubmersible drilling rig.

BAKU, AzerbaijanCaspian Drilling Co. (CDC) has contracted a complete topside equipment package from Aker Solutions for a new semisubmersible drilling rig.

Aker has previously delivered drilling equipment to eight rigs operating in theCaspian Sea, including two semis operated by CDC.

Last year, Aker opened a new facility in Baku, although equipment for the latest order will mainly be constructed and assembled at the company’s plants in Kristiansand and Asker in Norway, and in Erkelenz, Germany.

Caspian Shipyard Co., in which Keppel FELS is the main shareholder, will perform installation and commissioning. Delivery is scheduled for 4Q 2016.
