ROTHERHAM, UK – Martek Marine said it has delivered to Daewoo the most sophisticated emissions monitoring system ever built for marine use for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).
Thevessel, which can also function as an LNG carrier, should be delivered next May for deployment offshore Brazil.
The equipment monitors nitrogen oxide, sulfur oxide, carbon dioxide, carbon, and methane; total hydrocarbons and non-methane hydrocarbons; and benzene, nitrous oxide, and particulates.
According to Martek, this is the first system to measure so many different emissions, and benzene and nitrous oxide are rarely monitored. The company adapted specialist analysis techniques to measure benzene at levels below 1 ppm.
