The US Department of Justice has closed its investigation into Halliburton’s (NYSE:HAL) role related to the Macondo incident n the Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON – The US Department of Justice has closed its investigation into Halliburton’s (NYSE:HAL) role related to the Macondo incident in the Gulf of Mexico.
The federal judge accepted a misdemeanour guilty plea for the unauthorized deletion of a computer record that was created after the incident, and imposed a fine of $200,000 and three years’ probation. This was the result ofa plea agreement between Halliburton and the court.
The DoJ Task Force characterized the company’s cooperation as “exceptional” and “forthright, extensive, and ongoing since the outset of the investigation,” said Halliburton.
