ABERDEENSHIRE, Scotland – Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (SPO) has awarded a three-year contract to Veripos for satellite positioning of SPO’s fleet of 80 vessels, which is planned to expand to over 100 vessels by year-end 2015.
Veripos already provides services to a number of SPO vessels in Asia, Africa and Europe, and will now install facilities on the company’s remaining vessels. It will standardize SPO fleet equipment with LID5-GG2 integrated mobile receivers, and all SPO vessels will use a mix of Veripos Apex2, Ultra2, Apex, and Ultra services, which are capable of providing better than 10-cm (4-in.) positioning accuracies, using GPS and Glonass satellite systems.
