Brae production under review

Software improving production analysis on low-pressure Brae field wells.

(Europe) - IGL's MeasCap software has been deployed on Marathon's Brae fields in the UK North Sea, to evaluate production from low-pressure wells and to increase output.

The Aberdeen-based consultancy developed the software to evaluate different oil and gas production scenarios, and to determine whether a field's production equipment has sufficient capacity to process its oil and gas.

MeasCap, a Microsoft Excel-based application, is intended to enhance the industry-standard capacity modelling tool Hysys, used to predict existing gas and fluid flows through process equipment.

It builds on the Hysys models by managing data flow through capacity studies, and enables operators to take decisions on necessary hardware changes in order to optimize flow through process equipment.

The company claims the software also cuts time spent on complex calculations from days to minutes.
