DOT scheduled to run Feb. 2-4 in Houston
The Deep Offshore Technology International Conference and Exhibition (DOT) returns to Houston Feb. 2-4, 2010, at the George R. Brown Convention Center with this year’s theme “Knowledge is Your Edge.” The theme indicates the critical role of technology in finding, developing, and producing oil and gas in deepwater and ultra deepwater regions around the world. For more than 22 years, DOT has been a forum for industry leaders to address technical issues, to introduce pioneering technology, and to share lessons learned about.
DOT continues to be driven by industry involvement. The current DOT board of directors includes the following: Mark Alden, Schlumberger; Eldon Ball, PennWell Corp.; David Bilberry, Baker Hughes; Steve Bledsoe, SES Subsea Engineering Solutions Inc.; James Britch, HESS Corp.; Jen-hwa Chen, Chevron; Ian Cobban, Subsea 7; Derek Disney, KBR; Richard D’Souza, KBR/Granherne Americas; Ronny Hanssen, TOTAL E&P USA; Bill Henry, Shell E&P Co.; Kieran Kavanagh, MCS; Kevin Kennelley, BP E&P Inc.; Gene Kliewer,Offshore; Bob Kipp, INTECSEA WorleyParsons Group; Matt Lamey, Anadarko Petroleum Corp.; Bob Lewis, Noble Energy; Mike McEvilly, Spitzer Industries Inc.; John Murray, FloaTEC; Uri Nooteboom, INTECSEA WorleyParsons Group; Lee Norris, SPT Group; Todd Stevens, ExxonMobil; Nico Vandenworm, SSP Offshore Inc.; and David Walters, 2H Offshore.
The event begins Feb. 2 with special plenary presentations. Starting at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome and introduction, an operator representative will report on that perspective. Following that, Steven Kopits of Douglas-Westwood will address Global Deepwater Prospects. Dr. Arthur Weglein, University of Houston, will close the session.
The technical presentations are divided into three tracks. Track 1 is Floating Production Systems, Pipeline, and Asset Management. Track 2 is Subsea, Risers, and Flow Assurance Technology. Track 3 is Field Development, Construction, and Operations. The tracks are further defined according to the day and hour.
On Tuesday morning, Track 1 focuses on floating production systems. Track 2 covers emerging technologies. Track 3 examines production optimization. That afternoon, Track 1 is floating production systems, Track 2 is Subsea technology, and Track 3 is field architecture/development concepts.
On Wednesday, the morning session Track 1 is flowlines and pipelines, and then mooring and station keeping. Track 2 is consecutive sessions on flow assurance, and Track 3 is construction and installation followed by operational excellence/risk management. In the afternoon, Track 1 is integrity management, Track 2 is risers, and Track 3 is again construction and installation.
On Thursday morning, Track 1 is flowlines and pipelines, and then integrity management. Track 2 is regulatory followed by risers, and Track 3 is construction and installation followed by well construction/drilling operations.
