Map Oil Tools has launched the one-trip hydraulic setting and cementing tool. This combines a stinger and hydraulic setting tool, which provides the additional capability to cement through the plug after it is set.

The tool is said to cut trips in half, reducing operations by an entire day.

This system requires no tubing rotation or manipulation. It is hydraulically activated by dropping an activation ball into the hole and sets the tool using hydraulic pressure, making it more reliable and easier to use than mechanical setting tools.

This versatile tool can be used for acidizing, fracturing, or cementing with a retainer. In addition, it was designed for deepwater as well as horizontal wells. With a minimal outer diameter, the tool can be run in casing as small as 65⁄8 in. and intervals up to 20-in. casing.

The tool uses the same adapter kits that are used with industry standard wireline setting tools. Because it uses the same stinger assembly as the mechanical setting tool, the valve operation is identical. Without any added restrictions, the company says, the flow area in the tool remains the same as the mechanical setting tool.
