TOKYO, Japan — MODEC has entered a memorandum of understanding with Terra Drone Corp. to develop inspection drones for FPSOs.
According to MODEC, manual inspections at heights and in confined spaces on structures on its FPSOs present health and safety risks. In additionally, prolonged inspections of large-scale offshore platforms are a recognized challenge in the industry, it adds.
The company plans to combine its experience with Terra Drone's Terra UT Drone, said to provide precise and efficient inspections with ultrasonic testing capabilities for non-destructive testing.
