LYSAKER, Norway – Aker BP has deployed a software application to help its teams save energy at the Edvard Grieg platform in the Norwegian North Sea by linking real-time production data with energy consumption information.

Rather than measuring energy consumption, the application employs algorithms and data models to calculate energy loss for each component at the process facility. This is said to support optimal operations, while saving a large amount of energy.

Last year the total energy saved was around 4.2 GWh.

Aker BP developed the application with Honeywell to run on the existing software and hardware infrastructure, so no extra investments were needed.
