HOUSTON — bp Exploration has awarded the SOCAR-KBR joint venture a FEED, turnaround engineering and procurement support services contract for the Shah Deniz Alpha (SDA) platform in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
The partnership will undertake FEED services for decommissioning the existing five main power generators on the SDA platform. They will then create a new power supply from the KBR-designed Shah Deniz Bravo platform via subsea cables and a backup power generator, reducing the SDA platform’s emissions.
SOCAR-KBR's Baku office will manage the program, supported by KBR’s London operations.
