Offshore staff
STAVANGER, Norway — Equinor is extending its integrated drilling/wells services contracts for its fields offshore Norway with Baker Hughes, Halliburton and Schlumberger.
Equinor is extending its contracts for additional services with the same companies plus 13 other suppliers. All will run for two years from June 1.
The estimated total value of the drilling services deal, which will provide work for 2,000 personnel on 18 fixed platforms and 12 mobile rigs, is about NOK14 billion.
The value of specialist services in the same period, employing 600 personnel, is close to NOK6 billion.
Equinor began grouping together the drilling service awards in the one-contract format in 2018. This gave one supplier the main responsibility for integrated drilling services, cementing and pumping, drilling and completion fluids, electrical logging and completion on each installation.
According to Mette H. Ottøy, Equinor's chief procurement officer, this approach has “been fundamental to modernize the way we work, both by the establishment of operations centers, solving tasks jointly across disciplines and applying new technologies for close communication between the offshore and onshore organizations."

The specialist service contracts are Halliburton, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Weatherford, Ramex, NOV Wellbore Technologies, Petroleum Technology Co., TCO, Interwell, Welltec Oilfield Services, Roxar Flow Measurement, Sekal, Archer Oiltools, Silixa, Tendeka and Ardyne.
Services provided include electrical submersible pumps, downhole monitoring, tubing conveyed perforation, wired drillpipe, liner hanger, additional completion equipment and services, sand screens, fiber optics, fishing services, downhole mechanical isolation, multilateral technology, coring services, one-trip steerable drilling liner system and expandable hydraulic screens.
Archer Oiltools said its extension covers plugging and abandonment, fishing and downhole mechanical isolation equipment. Based on current activity levels, the additional backlog to the company is about $60 million.
