BATON ROUGE, La. – CORTEC reports that it has participated in a flow loop test of its back pressure valve design at LSU’s PERTT Lab in Baton Rouge. The company says that the design will be incorporated into several deepwater drilling systems this year and will be utilized to provide back pressure downstream of Coriolis flow meters which will aid in accurate measurement.

The company says that this design was completed in close communication with major operators and drilling contractors to address a need for a back pressure device which could provide full flow capability of larger 7 and 1/16-in. bore systems while maintaining original piping system design criteria.

The valve features a 7 and 1/16-in. characterized port ball which rotates 90 degrees into the flow stream to the end users desired effect. CORTEC says that this design can be rated up to 5,000 psi and specified to meet customer desired end connection and actuation methods.
