OSLO, NorwayDNV GL’s data platform, Veracity now provides online access to offshore and onshore reliability data (OREDA) compiled by operators over nearly 40 years.

The OREDA handbook, established in 1981 with the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, has data from almost 300 installations.

It includes details of more than 18,000 equipment units with 43,000 failure and 80,000 maintenance records, and information on subsea fields with more than 2,000 combined years of operations.

DNV GL, in partnership with French IT service provider SATODEV and OREDA member companies, has transferred the data from the handbook to a digital tool named OREDA@Cloud, available via its Veracity data platform.

“It is crucial for the oil and gas industry to be able to learn from past events to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality in the future,” said Liv A. Hovem, CEO, DNV GL – Oil & Gas.

“Delivering this information easily through Veracity will help stakeholders unlock, qualify, combine, and prepare data for analytics and benchmarking, create new insights and develop innovative solutions making contributions to a safer and more efficient oil and gas industry.”

Nicolas Clavé, Total’s representative to OREDA and JIP Steering Committee chairman, added: “Users can apply filters and analyze the OREDA reliability database. Going digital through the Veracity platform is a real step-change for those wanting to access and use what is today the largest reliability database of the oil and gas industry.”
