DSI provides commissioning for Bonga

Amec has contracted Deepwater Specialists Inc., a subsidiary of John Wood Group PLC, to provide commissioning services for Shell's Bonga FPSO, offshore Nigeria. The $4-million contract marks DSI's entry into Nigeria's offshore.

Amec has contracted Deepwater Specialists Inc., a subsidiary of John Wood Group PLC, to provide commissioning services for Shell'sBonga FPSO, offshore Nigeria. The $4-million contract marks DSI's entry into Nigeria's offshore.

Under the contract, DSI will support Amec in verifying construction readiness, pre-commissioning, and dynamic commissioning of all systems to ensure compliance with engineering design criteria. The company's dynamic commissioning support includes assisting in testing the functionality and proving the integrity of all production, storage, and offloading systems for the FPSO.

The Bonga contract is DSI's first award since joining Wood Group and increases Wood Group's operational presence in West Africa. Wood Group acquired DSI in April 2004

DSI provides facilities commissioning services to the international oil and gas industry, function checking, and proving the integrity of all systems after construction is completed and prior to the introduction of hydrocarbons. The company has commissioned nine deepwater Gulf of Mexico facilities since being founded in 1998.
