DEA outlines Brazil E&P goals

DEA Deutsche Erdoel has opened an office in Rio de Janeiro and appointed Christoph Schlichter as general manager for Brazil.

HAMBURG, GermanyDEA Deutsche Erdoel has opened an office in Rio de Janeiro and appointed Christoph Schlichter as general manager for Brazil.

He is responsible for evaluating market opportunities in the Brazilian upstream industry for the company’s subsidiaryDEA Petróleo e Gás do Brasil, formed in 2013.

DEA, which earlier this week was awarded itsfirst license offshore Mexico, for block 2, plans to participate in future Brazilian bidding rounds, and will also examine farm-in opportunities to existing Brazilian licenses.

DEA Deutsche Erdoel CEO Thomas Rappuhn said: “We’re interested in a long-term commitment in the region and are prepared to make relevant investments.”

The company aims to become established as an operator, drawing on its experience in large-scale offshore and onshore projects elsewhere, Schlichter added.
