HOUSTON --Schlumberger has acquired UK-based Insensys Oil & Gas Ltd., a provider of non-intrusive fiber-optic measurements for application in the integrity surveillance of subsea production systems.

"Insensys Oil & Gas fiber-optic technology provides Schlumberger with an exciting entry into a market where customers are actively seeking measurements and information to provide integrity assurance in the deeper subsea environments now being developed," says Pascal Panetta, VP, Schlumberger Subsea.

Through the acquisition, explains Schlumberger, fiber-optic measurements and subsurface surveillance domain knowledge will be integrated with Insensys Oil & Gas non-intrusive fiber-optic subsea integrity surveillance solutions to create unique product offerings that will provide customers with the integrity assurance capability that reduces technical risk in deepwater subsea developments.
