3M to open oil and gas center in Houston

HOUSTON --3M's Energy and Advanced Materials Division announced the opening of a customer center for its oil and gas business in Houston, Texas, today at the Offshore Technology Conference. The center is scheduled to open this year.
"Houston was a natural location to open the first center of this kind," says Scott Hanson, who will lead business development at the center. "Houston is the global hub of the oil and gas industry, and our proximity will allow us to bring our technical resources and expertise where our customers are."
Four application development areas will be highlighted at the center: exploration and production; drilling fluids; low density cement; and liquid filtration and pipe insulation.
