BERGEN, Norway --Oceanteam Power & Umbilical has signed a five-year accord with ABB Power Technologies to jointly service the subsea sector. The agreement will combine the two companies' manufacturing and installation capabilities for high voltage submarine power transmission cables.

ABB produces submarine cables with jointing and commissioning services. Oceanteam has a fleet of installation vessels under construction in Vigo, Spain, which will be able to take on board 7,000 tonnes (7,716 tons) of cables, flowlines or umbilicals. It has also taken the power cable installation vesselTeam Oman on long-term charter, which can handle up to 4,000 tonnes (4,409 tons) in one load-out.
