New group for UK offshore industry

LONDON --Oil & Gas UK is a newly formed association representing the interests of all companies active in Britain's offshore sector. It will be based at the London and Aberdeen premises of what was the UK Offshore Oil and Gas Operators Association (Ukooa). The latter's Malcolm Webb is chief executive of the new group.
Aside from Ukooa's oil company members, various front-line contractors have agreed to join, including Halliburton, KCA Deutag, and Maersk Contractors.
"The role of Oil & Gas UK is to develop and further the case for a safe, sustainable and successful future for the UK offshore oil and gas industry," says to BP's Dave Blackwood, a joint chairman of the new association.
"The combined perspective of operators, non-operators, and contractors will give our activities greater depth and a more coherent voice for the industry, particularly in its conversations with the government."
