PSA investigates Grane collision

OSLO, Norway --Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) reports that the supply vessel Bourbon Surf collided on July 9 with Hydro's Grane platform in the Norwegian North Sea.
Damage to both structures was limited, but under different circumstances, PSA says, the outcome could have been serious. PSA has met with Hydro and Bourbon to obtain a preliminary report on the incident, and wants to ensure that the full chain of events is uncovered.
Its follow-up focus will be on how Hydro, as platform operator, safeguards its responsibility for monitoring vessels inside the designated safety zone around the facility. PSA is also in dialogue with the Norwegian Maritime Directorate about the repercussions.
