Offshore staff
LONDON, UK -- Tullow Oil Plc. has had some positive results from its Africa ventures. The company issued a trading statement in advance of its interim results scheduled for release on Sept. 4, 2007.
In exploration news, Tullow reports the Mahogany discovery in the deepwater Tano block offshore Ghana indicates significant upside potential above current market estimates. TheBelford Dolphin drillship will drill an additional well in the Tano block in August.
Offshore Namibia, Tullow is conducting an appraisal campaign on Kudu East. The Kudu-8 well will test the multi-tcf potential of the area. It is expected to reach the reservoir target at the end of July and to begin testing in August.
Production across the company's portfolio has been close to expectation off Africa. The recent West Espoir (Côte d'Ivoire) and Okume Complex (Equatorial Guinea) developments continue to deliver above expectation, Tullow says.
"Tullow's business has reached a new level in terms of scale and opportunity in the first half of 2007," says Aidan Heavey, chief executive of Tullow. "The Mahogany well in Ghana has provided the Group's largest ever discovery. We have recorded excellent results from Uganda, and our African assets have delivered a strong production performance."
