PERTH, Australia -- First gas has flowed from two wells on High Island block 24L in the US Gulf of Mexico, according to Perth-based Entek Energy Ltd. The wells flowed at a combined rate of 98 MMcf/d of gas. Production will ramp up over the next few weeks while the production facility is commissioned.

"With strengthening oil and gas prices, the HI-24L production will assist the company in pursuing additional interests in the GoM," says Russel Brimage, chairman of Entek.
