Wintershall adds to Qatar operations

DOHA, Qatar –State oil company Qatar Petroleum has awarded Wintershall an exploration license in block 3 of Qatar's territorial Arabian Gulf waters.

Wintershall Holdings AG, with 40%, will be the operator for partners Cosmo Energy Exploration & Development Ltd. (35%) and Pertamina (25%).

Block 3 covers some 1,700 sq km (1,056 sq mi). Plans are for 3D seismic surveys followed by drilling in 2009.
