Statoil forms partnership with Odfejell

Statoil has signed a framework agreement with Odfjell Drilling for the development of new drilling service technology, which it needs to achieve its targets for improved oil and gas recovery.

STAVANGER, Norway --Statoil has signed a framework agreement with Odfjell Drilling for the development of new drilling service technology, which it needs to achieve its targets for improved oil and gas recovery.

The two partners will establish a steering committee to evaluate potential joint projects. Areas currently under discussion include:
- Automated measurement of the drilling process
- Equipment to aid recycling of drilling slots
- Equipment to measure the use of well casings
- Alternative materials for casings in deep wells.

Statoil has signed similar agreements with Baker Hughes, Halliburton, and Schlumberger for subsurface technology.
