BANGKOK, Thailand -- PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. Ltd. says it has closely monitored the political situation in Myanmar and that gas production is continuing at the normal rate from the Gulf of Martaban.

The Yadana project is producing about 650 MMcf/d of gas, and the Yetagun project is producing about 430 MMcf/d, the company says. Exploration work on block M9 is also progressing normally.

PTTEP says it has procedures in place to respond to situations in countries where the company operates or partners to ensure PTTEP personnel work in a reasonably comfortable and safe environment.

PTTEP had said earlier that it was considering evacuating its staff in Myanmar if the political situation, led by monks, turned violent.
