STAVANGER, Norway -- Roxar has signed a global software contract with Hydro for its modeling software, IRAP RMS.

The three-year agreement (with options for an extension) will allow Hydro's geologists, geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers unlimited global access to the 3D modeling software.

According to Roxar, Hydro will have the potential to increase production from existing fields, shorten the discovery-to-production lifecycle and lower the risk and uncertainty in exploration.

"What today's customers are looking for in their reservoir modeling capabilities are detailed, fast and low cost modeling from the desktop and an easy to use and integrated workflow environment, says Sandy Esslemont, Roxar CEO. "Hydro can look forward to a more complete analysis of its reservoirs, improved decision-making and maximum reservoir performance."

According to Roxar, the software provides interpolation and object-based modeling techniques for collecting facies distribution data and petrophysical properties, which is key to increasing oil and gas recovery and forecasting future production.

The company also has introduced a reservoir uncertainty module within the product which allows for uncertainties to be quantified across the reservoir characterization and development workflow.

IRAP RMS operates on the Linux-64 and Windows-64 platforms.
