JAKARTA, Indonesia -- Total E&P Indonesie will invest $6 billion in the next five years exploring and developing the Delta Mahakam block off East Kalimantan, the company says.

Thierry Desmarest, chairman and CEO of Total E&P Indonesie, says Total is negotiating with state oil and gas company PT Pertamina on plans to increase its gas production from the block, which produces 2.64 bcf/d, 90% of which is supplied to the Bontang Liquefied Natural Gas plant.

Desmarest says Total had increased its investment to $1 billion in Kalimantan production-sharing contract acreage in the past three years.
