Crane group consolidates in North Sea
Energy Cranes International has acquired Aberdeen Hydraulic Services.
ABERDEEN, UK --Energy Cranes International has acquired Aberdeen Hydraulic Services. It plans to merge this company with its Sparrows Offshore division to create a larger specialist business called Aberdeen Hydraulics Ltd.
Steve Ord, COO of the new operation, says it will rank as "one of the North Sea's leading hydraulic engineering design, manufacture and refurbishment companies", supporting operators, drilling, and marine contractors.
Energy Crane also has bought the intellectual property of the former crane manufacturer Bucyrus Erie. The company claims there are around 250 large Bucyrus Erie cranes in service in offshore installations worldwide. It will provide OEM parts and servicing for these machines, in addition to its existing arrangements for cranes supplied by American Aero, Houston Systems, Titan Industries, and Weatherford Cranes.
