LONDON -- International project management and services company AMEC and oil and gas engineering consultants MMC Oil & Gas of Malaysia have formed a new private company called MMC AMEC Sdn. Bhd.
With its head office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, MMC AMEC will operate in southeast Asia, specializing in large-scale, integrated deepwater facilities as well as internationally providing engineering and project management services both upstream and downstream.
"The establishment of MMC AMEC is another step forward in AMEC's growth strategy in the global energy sector and follows soon after our acquisition of BKKS in Kazakhstan, another key oil-producing region," says Neil Bruce, COO of AMEC's natural resources business. "The Kuala Lumpur office will not only take us closer to providing the best engineering and project management expertise in the region, it will also become one of AMEC's major engineering design hubs."
Feizal Ali, chief executive of MMC Group says, "The new company will have the resource and back-up support of MMC Group and AMEC. Our objective is to ensure that our established customers in Malaysia and our international customers are able to determine the real value of our combined efforts as quickly and as effectively as possible."
MMC will hold 51% interest in the new company. AMEC will hold 49%.
