ABERDEEN, UK --UK training body Opito has agreed to set up a competence standards framework for Thailand's offshore workforce. This follows the signing of an accord with Thailand's Technical Petroleum Training Institute (TPTI).

Under the arrangement, thousands of Thai personnel will complete a course designed around Opito's Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training standard before traveling offshore.

Recently, the UK institute also signed a partnership agreement to establish India's first Opito-approved training center, and it currently is in talks with the Mexican government to develop a standards and qualifications framework for the oil and gas sector in Mexico.
