HOUSTON -- Schlumberger has unveiled SeaConnect, a VSAT service for the offshore industry which incorporates a stabilized marine 60-cm (23.6-in.) C-band antenna.

“With its high portability, mobility, and small footprint, the SeaConnect service will enable connectivity to any type of offshore vessel or to any service company on a rig,” says Paul Khayat, marketing manager, Schlumberger Global Connectivity Services.

The service has also provides vessel owners and service companies with secure communication systems, he adds.

SeaConnect is offered on a fixed-fee, unlimited data access basis. Schlumberger has trialed the service over the past six months on various vessels operating in Southeast Asia. It is available currently in this region, and Schlumberger says the service will be expanded over the next few months to South Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The system can be deployed in 30 minutes, providing fast end-user data and voice access.
