Baker, BJ reach merger agreement with DOJ

Baker Hughes Inc. and BJ Services co. have reached final agreement with the US Department of Justice on the steps necessary to close their pending merger.

HOUSTON-- Baker Hughes Inc. and BJ Services co. have reached final agreement with the US Department of Justice on the steps necessary to close their pending merger.

According to the agreement, Baker Hughes will divest two stimulation vessels and "certain ohter assets used to perform sand control services in the US Gulf of Mexico." TheHR Hughes and Blue Ray are the two vessels named.

With this agreement in hand, Baker Hughes and BJ say they expect to close the merger this week.
