Strong rig turnover at Lamprell yards
Offshore staff
SHARJAH, UAE -- Fabricator Lamprell has had a positive start to 2010, winning numerous major contract awards. The company adds that its bid activity remains high.
Among the new offshore awards is a contract to design and construct two wellhead platforms for a project offshore India. Engineering and procurement is under way, and fabrication should start shortly at the company’s yard in Jebel Ali.
At Lamprell’s Hamriyah facility, work continues on the newbuild drilling rig Offshore Mischief, which should be delivered to Scorpion Rigs at the end of April, on time and on budget.
Lamprell remains in discussions with Riginvest G.P. concerning financing options for the LeTourneau Super 116E jackup.
So far this year, the company has also taken on 24 jackup refurbishment programs, the workscopes covering the full range of its upgrade and refurbishment service. The Sharjah yard has been working on 10 rigs with Hamriyah handling the remaining 14.
Jebel Ali completed spud can extensions last month for Master Marine, and is currently working on process modules ordered by Saipem for the Livorno and Aquila FPSOs destined for Italian waters.
