ABERDEEN -- Maersk Oil North Sea has granted Aker Offshore Partner a one-year extension to a maintenance, modifications, and operations contract in the UK sector. The value of the extension is around GBP 25 million ($38 million).

The terms of the original contract signed in February 2004 included three optional extensions, all of which have been exercised. Aker Solution's scope of work for Mærsk involves engineering and construction support on the Janice, GPIII, and Gryphon production facilities.

The new option phase lasts from February 1 through end-January 2011.
