LAFAYETTE, Louisiana– Knight Oil Tools has introduced its Megaton Drilling Jar product line and has opened a Megaton Jar Facility in Broussard, Louisiana.
The new product line features the Megaton Drilling Jar with Ulti-Torq connection and the Megaton Energizer, which maximizes the drilling jar. The products are designed to help free stuck drill pipe by providing an impact or “jarring” effect upward or downward on stuck pipe.
Incorporating features of both hydraulic and mechanical drilling jars, the unique design combines both hydraulic time delay release and a mechanical lock mechanism in one relatively short double-acting jar.
“The introduction of Megaton Drilling Jars is a natural extension to our existing product lines,” said Doug Keller, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Many of the wells that utilize our drill pipe will have a need for the drilling jar as they are a critical component of most drilling bottom hole assemblies.”
The new 12,000 sq ft (1,114 sq m) jar maintenance facility, located at 1001 Petroleum Parkway, provides service and maintenance operations for the newly introduced Megaton drilling and fishing jar product line.
