WARRINGTON, UK -- Dolphin Energy has contracted engineering consultancy ESR Technology for safety and risk management services for the Dolphin Gas Project in the Middle East.

The project delivers 2 bcf/d of gas from Qatar’s offshore North Field via subsea/overland pipelines to the UAE and Oman. Gas is extracted via two wellhead platforms, then transported to treatment and compression plants in Ras Laffan, Qatar before heading southeast through a long-distance pipeline off the coast of the Arabian Peninsula.

Under a call-off agreement, ESR will provide a wide range of services, including HAZIDs and HAZOPS; assessment of quantitative risk, fire and explosion risk and safety integrity; safety reviews and safety-critical system evaluations; escape, evacuation and rescue evaluations; and failure mode and effects analysis.

The program is being led by ESR’s team in Abu Dhabi, supported by staff in the UK.

Dolphin Energy is owned 51% by Mubadala Development Company on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi, and 24.5% each by Total and Occidental Petroleum. Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Company, the Dubai Supply Authority, and Oman Oil Company have each signed 25-year gas supply agreements with the Dolphin partners.
