Rasgas pipes to be coated in Qatar

Socotherm contracted to provide concrete weight and anti-corrosion coating for Rasgas pipelines off Qatar

(Qatar) Pipeline coating specialist Socotherm has been awarded a $35 m-plus contract by the RasGas joint venture of Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil. The company will provide fusion bonded epoxy external anti-corrosion coating, reinforced concrete weight coating and anodes for 207-km of 38-in. submarine pipes. These will take gas from the wellhead platforms WH6 and WH8 on the North Field to the terminal at Ras Laffan.

Starting this fall, Socotherm will undertake anti-corrosion and weight coating work at its Masaieed Port area facilities in Qatar, which are also working on the Dolphin Energy pipeline project, again in the Arabian Gulf.
