LANGESUND, Norway -- Blom Maritime AS and Grenland Group's AsIs laser scanning activity have signed a cooperation agreement. The consortium will be the first to provide a total solution of 3D subsea photogrammetry, laser scanning, and traditional industry surveying.
"With an operational work force of 40 people, we are certain that the cooperation will give us a strong competitive edge. We are now ready to take on large contracts for verification and control of geometrical data that include scanning and photogrammetry of subsea and topside structures during pre-fabrication and construction and of finished structures," says Inge Byrkjeland, product manager of Grenland Group's 'AsIs Laser Scanning.'
The companies have joined forces as a result of their observation that more and more companies realize the power of 3D geometrical data.
The cooperation between the companies has already started. Together, they conducted a scanning of the Kårstø expansion project, which involved more than 400 scans, totaling 14 billion points and 100GB of data, with a maximum global deviation of 5 mm.
