(Asia-Pacific) - Labroy Offshore Ltd. signed two rig construction contracts for a Norway-based customer, totaling $292 million. The MSC CJ-46-X100D-designed jackups are scheduled to be delivered in 2008/2009.

The jackup will be equipped with a drilling package to drill at 30,000 ft drilling depth in 350 ft of water.

Each rig is to have accommodation facilities for 100 men.

The construction of the two jackup rigs is expected to begin in 2Q 2006.

The first unit is to be delivered in 4Q 2008, and the second in 2Q 2009.

"These are the first rig-building contracts announced by Labroy and signifies a major breakthrough for the group into the lucrative rig-building and offshore construction projects.

"With the new contracts, Labroy's orderbook for its Batam yards has swelled to approximately $618.3 million," says Tan Boy Tee, Labroy chairman and managing director, anticipating more rig building contracts in the future.

Labroy has developed a new 40ha yard on Indonesia's Batam island, adjacent to its existing yard.

It has the capacity to build up to six jackup rigs simultaneously.
