NORWICH, UK -- Claxton Engineering, 2H Offshore, and Subsea Riser Products have won an Energy Innovation Award from East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) for work on a full-bore access riser capable of working at pressures in excess of 12,000 psi. Flanges used to connect individual pipe sections are attached using a shrink-fit process.

The riser is expected to be in use in the North Sea by the fall, enabling UK oil and gas production company Venture to drill and complete subsea wells from a jackup drilling rig.
