PARIS -- Schlumberger has acquired Techsia SA, a supplier of petrophysical software. Techsia will continue to operate under its own name.

Future product development will benefit from collaboration with a number of Schlumberger research and development centers that offer knowledge and expertise in geomechanics, well placement, production logging, and fluid characterization, says Schlumberger.

"Techlog will form a powerful complement to the industry-leading Petrel earth model through an integrated approach to log and core petrophysical interpretation," says Tony Bowman, president of Schlumberger Information Solutions. "This will be particularly valuable in enabling real-time workflows for well construction. In addition, once operating in the Ocean environment, Techlog will feature the same level of open-platform capability as the rest of our new-generation products."
