CALGARY -- Antrim Energy has been offered a block in the central North Sea under the UK’s 25th Seaward Licensing Round.

Block 21/24b is 10 km (6.2 mi) northeast of the undeveloped Fyne field, which Antrim also operates, and adjacent to the producing Teal and South Teal fields to the east, Pict to the west, and the Guillemot North fields to the south.

All these accumulations generate oil either from Eocene Tay or Upper Jurassic Fulmar sandstones. Block 21/24b is thought to have potential in both formations – the acreage includes a Fulmar oil discovery from 1991, which was not tested.

Antrim will be 100% owner of the block, awarded under a Traditional License. The initial four-year term includes seismic processing and a contingent well.
