PERTH, Australia -- Apache and Kufpex have informed Woodside Petroleum that they are pulling out of talks on processing gas from their WA 356-P permit off Western Australia via the Pluto LNG project.

Woodside remains in discussions with other third party gas owners in the Carnarvon basin over use of the Pluto facilities.

The company will shortly start a 20-plus series of exploration wells in the Greater Pluto area, and expects the results to contribute to an expansion of the LNG project, currently 76% complete. Woodside says its Carnarvon basin acreage includes 30 prospects and over 35 leads.
