DHAHRAN, Saudi Arabia -- Schlumberger has opened a new reservoir completions manufacturing center in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The $25-million center houses a team of design and manufacturing engineers specialized in the production of customized downhole reservoir completions equipment.

Manufacturing operations will begin with products including single wire-wrapped screens with a shrink-fit design, inflow control devices for production wells, and injection control devices to control the profile of water injection wells.

“In support of our customer’s objective to seek maximum reservoir contact, we are excited about the opening of a facility that will provide the equipment to optimize production in long horizontal wells and to maximize reservoir recovery using novel completion concepts,” says Doug Pferdehirt, president of Schlumberger Reservoir Production group. “With this plant Schlumberger is extending its commitment to Saudi Arabia through the development of human resources, customized manufacturing, and joint research and technology projects."
