OSLO -- GE Oil & Gas will perform two engineering studies for BP’s Foinaven oil field west of Shetland in the UK sector.
The studies, relating to subsea processing and a power link from the shore, are a continuation of work GE has already completed to support a future phase of production enhancement at Foinaven. The work should be completed later this summer.
BP and GE have maintained a subsea processing collaboration for more than a decade.
Foinaven and its production facilities are 190 km (118 mi) west of Shetland, in water depths of 400-600 m (1,312-1,969 ft). Recoverable reserves are estimated in the range 250-600 MMbbl.
