HOUSTON -- Fugro is conducting a free workshop to assist the offshore industry in understanding the impact of the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) Article 76. According to Fugro, UNCLOS Article 76 will be the single most influential application in modern time.
To date, seventy-three countries (Coastal States) from around the world have formally laid claim to more than 30 million sq km (11.5 million sq mi) of new seabed covering all the world's Continental regions, including both Arctic Poles, under the guidelines of UNCLOS Article 76.
The workshop will provide an overview of the basic global Law of the Sea and identify the location of all the current claims. This will provide an indication of where oil and gas exploration can be anticipated over the next 25 years, the company says.
Date: September 30 Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Location: Fugro Office, 6100 Hillcroft, Room 100 Houston, Texas.
