LONDON -- Chevron Australia has awarded Kentz a $125-million contract for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a telecommunications package for the Gorgon project offshore Australia.

According to Kentz, the remoteness of the project site calls for telecommunications technology including converged IP networks for multiple data streams, satellite data communications, navigational aids including radar and vessel tracking, meteorological and oceanographic systems, site wide WAN/LAN with network management, central fire and security monitoring, and data transmission on both fiber optic and microwave.
