LONDON – Fairfield Cedrus has signed a farm-in agreement with two companies for an appraisal well on the abandoned Maureen field in the UK central North Sea.
Endeavour Energy and Challenger Minerals (North Sea) will part-fund Fairfield’s share of the costs of well 16/29a-NEM-C, to be drilled by Transocean’s semisub Sedco 704 under a turnkey contract with ADTI.
The objective is a potentially unswept Palaeocene target in the northeast area of the Maureen field, estimated to hold 27-30 MMbbl of oil. If successful, the well will be suspended as a future producer for a potential subsea tieback to a platform in the area.
