DELFT, the Netherlands – Ampelmann Operations has achieved its 100,000th crew transfer to an offshore platform.

The company’s system, which can be placed on the deck of any ship, works like an inverted simulator. Its six hydraulic legs counteract ship motions to keep the gangway still. This enables a transfer to any offshore structure, even in high wave conditions.

The company, which has been operating for four years, is a spin-off of Delft University of Technology. Currently it operates nine units worldwide and expects to be able to offer 20 by year-end.

Recently it started offering its service in Qatar.
