GIS takes control of Qatar drilling contractor

Gulf International Services (GIS) has agreed to acquire Japan Drilling Co.’s 30% shareholding in Gulf Drilling International (GDI).

DOHA, Qatar – Gulf International Services (GIS) has agreed to acquire Japan Drilling Co.’s 30% shareholding in Gulf Drilling International (GDI).

From May 1, GDI will become a wholly owned subsidiary of GIS.

GDI has expanded the size of its fleet from nine to 18 from 2012-2014.

The new owner also signed a letter of intent with Japan Drilling Co. that provides for additional technical cooperation between the two companies and the promotion of mutually beneficial business opportunities.
